Falcao unlikely to re-sign for Atletico

Atletico Madrid are unlikely to re-sign Falcao before the transfer window closes at midnight Spanish time.
The Colchoneros were linked with a late bid for their former striker, and he is reportedly in the Spanish capital as his agent, Jorge Mendes, holds talks with Atleti.

However, sources close to Atletico have told MirrorFootball that it would be very surprising were the Colombian to join.

Falcao, who notably flopped at Manchester United last season, is understood to have a raft of lucrative offers outside Europe that could still come to fruition even after tonight’s deadline.
But a return to the club where he won the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup looks set to evade him.

They were the days, eh?

As Rhodes nears Middlesbrough move (again)...

Jordan Rhodes has arrived at Middlesbrough’s Rockliffe training ground to see if he can actually complete his £9million move this time.

He’s been snapped on the way in and one of his new team-mates has noticed that the Scottish striker is looking a tad mardy...

Austin drops Fer hint?

Leroy Fer is being tipped to move to Swansea before the deadline.
The midfielder would be the second addition for the Swans, who have already bagged Alberto Paloschi.
And it seems Charlie Austin – whose Southampton side play Swansea next weekend – has dropped a bit of a hint.

Done deal: Celtic sign Kazim-Richards

We head north of the border for a bona fide done deal.
Celtic are again the team in question... it’s turning out to be a bumper day for them.

After adding Patrick Roberts on loan from Man City, the Bhoys have now signed Colin Kazim-Richards.
The former Brighton and Sheffield United man has penned a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Nick Powell set for Hull loan

Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell has arrived at Hull City’s stadium to finalise his loan move.
Powell, 21, is expected to join Steve Bruce’s side until the end of the season but is out of contract at United in the summer.

The former Crewe forward was sidelined for the majority of 2015 but came on as a substitute in United’s December defeats to Wolfsburg and Bournemouth. Powell’s only previous appearance under Louis van Gaal was in last season’s ignominious League Cup thrashing at MK Dons.

Powell joined United for £4.5m from Crewe in 2012 and scored on his debut against Wigan before impressing in cup games at Chelsea and Galatasaray.

However, injuries and ill-discipline have hampered his development at United and it is probable he has played his last game for the club.

Jordan Mansfield

Arsenal linked with Chilean youngster

The agent of Chilean youngster Marcelo Allende has said his client could move to Arsenal.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, Christian Ogalde said there are a number of clubs keen on the midfielder, who has come through the same youth system as Eduardo Vargas.

“I have a relationship with many European clubs including Arsenal and, another club, so if there are options, we’ll talk,” he said.
“Arsenal is a great training club and we would be interested in working with them if they give us the possibility to.”

Oh, the glamour

If you’re anything like us, deadline day is a time for despicable food choices you come to regret.

Already, today, we’ve had crisps, chocolate, more crisps, sweets, lollies, donuts and more crisps.
We feel AWFUL. But it looks like it’s not just us abandoning reason...

Terry set for money-spinning move to Middle East?

John Terry has been offered a huge pay day in the Middle East.
Mirror Sport can reveal Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has sounded out Terry and held secret talks with his advisers about a money-spinning move to Qatar club Al Arabi.

Zola is confident his connections will help persuade 35-year-old Terry to move to Qatar ahead of lucrative offers from Major League Soccer and China.

Chelsea captain Terry is now free to talk to foreign clubs because he is out of contract at the end of the season and he has admitted that he has been told he is not being offered a new deal.

Qatar are desperate to bring in big stars to boost their domestic league and also build-up to the 2022 World Cup. Former Barcelona star Xavi has gone to Al Sadd and Terry would be a huge coup.

Former England captain Terry went on a personal tour of China last summer and has had various offers from the Far East while several MLS clubs are watching developments having already taken Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole across the Atlantic.

Chelsea have insisted they may yet offer Terry a new deal and that talks may resume later in the season.

Van Ginkel set to Dutch return?

Marco van Ginkel is set to return to his native Holland and join PSV Eindhoven after being offloaded by Stoke.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes feels he will no longer need van Ginkel once he completes Giannelli Imbula’s record £18.2million switch from Porto.

Hughes signed van Ginkel from Chelsea on loan in the summer and the Dutch midfielder struggled to establish himself at the Britannia, making just eight Premier League starts.

Chelsea want him to keep playing first-team football and are negotiating a deal to loan him to PSV for the rest of the campaign.
The Blues signed van Ginkel from Vitesse Arnhem in 2013 and do not want to sell him this transfer window.

Crazy 88s...

Newcastle signing Seydou Doumbia wants to wear the famous black and white number, er, 88 shirt!

The striker wants two fat ladies on his back when he kicks off his Newcastle career on loan from Roma.
He said: “It’s hard to give you an exact reason (why I wear No 88).

“When I first arrived in Moscow I took No 8 and at the end of the season I think I’d scored 38 goals altogether.

“I wanted to double up and have 88 – there’s no other reason for it than that. I just like it and it’s stuck.
“If that’s the number that I’m allowed to wear then I’ll snap it up.”

Newcastle eye Oviedo

Everton’s Bryan Oviedo is a loan target for Newcastle.

The Magpies looked set to re-sign Jose Enrique but the deal fell through over the duration of his loan.
And now Steve McClaren appears to have turned his attention to Oviedo - with West Brom also keen.

The Costa Rican continues to play second-fiddle to Leighton Baines at Goodison while Brendan Galloway’s emergence may persuade Roberto Martinez to let him go.

Watford immediately loan out Doucoure

So Watford have broken their transfer record - but then immediately loaned him out.
Modern football, eh?

Hornets new boy Abdoulaye Doucoure won’t link up with his new side until the summer after he has completed a six-month loan spell at Granada.

Hornets’ CEO Scott Duxbury said of the deal: “The opportunity to sign Abdoulaye Doucouré now was one we wanted to act upon, given our long-standing interest in the player.

“He is very much part of Watford’s future plans, and in the time between now and pre-season he’ll be experiencing high-level competitive football in Spain.”

Falcao closes in on Chelsea exit?

Is Radamel Falcao’s nightmare in England set to end?
According to the Telegraph, the Colombian is in Spain and could return to former club Atletico Madrid.

He’s been a bust in English football, but could a return to the Calderon rejuvenate El Tigre?
We may soon find out...

No go for Ravel...

Ravel Morrison is staying at Lazio - and never really came close to leaving.

Former QPR and West Ham midfielder Morrison has been linked with moves to Aston Villa and Bournemouth but Mirror Sport understands they were never on today.

Steven Fletcher completes Marseille medical

One of the most surprising deals of this (or any?) window is edging closer to completion.
Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher has completed his medical at French side Marseille.

He is set to sign a five month loan deal taking him up to the summer when his Black Cats contract expires.
The two clubs are now discussing how they split the paying of Fletcher’s wages and the deal will then be finalised.

Done deal: Watford seal Doucoure move

Watford have confirmed the signing of Rennes midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.

They club are yet to reveal the fee, but it is understood to be in the region of £8million and he has penned a four-and-a-half year deal.

Enrique wants to see out his Liverpool deal

Jose Enrique has told Liverpool he wants to see out the remaining five months of his contract.
The Spanish defender Reds fans love to hate has turned down a move to Newcastle, even though his Anfield club were prepared to pay him off to leave.

Enrique was offered a deal until the end of the season at St James’ Park, but told his former club he wanted a longer deal.

And he turned his back on a move by joining Liverpool training at their Melwood complex last night, cutting short celebrations amongst Koppites that he could finally be on his way.

The Spaniard earns an eye-watering £65,000 a week and is due more than £1.5m for the remaining months on his contract, and he has indicated he is determined to sit it out and pick up that pay packet before finding another club at the end of the season when his contract is up.

Debuchy moving closer to Bordeaux deal

Mathieu Debuchy is set to join Bordeaux on loan until the end of the season.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger sanctioned the move - even though he was keen for him to stay in the Premier League.
Sunderland and Aston Villa also made attempts to sign 30-year-old Debuchy but were scared off by Arsenal’s demands as they wanted a £1.5m loan fee and to cover his £60,000-a-week wages.

Mirror Sport understands Manchester United were never genuine contenders to get Debuchy who trained with Arsenal this morning.

Debuchy will be expected to return to Arsenal this summer as his situation has changed because Carl Jenkinson is now out for up to nine months with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

That means Debuchy could even be at Arsenal next season as back-up for Hector Bellerin which is why Wenger wanted him to stay in England to get his sharpness back and also veered towards a loan deal.

Everton's Niasse deal edges nearer...

Everton are edging closer to completing their drawn out deal for Oumar Niasse.
The Senegal striker has had his medical, and is now back at the club’s training ground, where he is thought to be completing the small print on contract details.

That deal could be announced soon, with the Blues committing to a £13.5m transfer that makes him the third most expensive signing in their history.

Where next for Pellegrini?

Once we get this transfer window out of the way, you’d imagine that Manuel Pellegrini’s future will be up for the debate.
Chelsea would seem to be a good fit and they’re the current favourites with Unibet, who have priced up their market like this:
  • Chelsea 3/2
  • Atletico Madrid 4/1
  • PSG 7/1
  • Malaga 8/1
  • Villarreal 8/1
  • Man United 8/1
  • AC Milan 15/1
  • Inter Milan 15/1
  • National Team 20/1
They also offer 50/1 that City go undefeated for the rest of the season under the Chilean.

Remy hopes to seal Leicester loan move

Chelsea forward Loic Remy is still hoping to complete a beat-the-deadline £11m move to Leicester.
Chelsea do not want to lose both Remy and Radamel Falcao in this window but may sanction a move before the window.

Done deal: Burnley sign James Tarkowski

Burnley have landed defneder James Tarkowski from Brentford.
The 23-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at Turf Moor after joining for an undisclosed fee.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche is a happy man:

“James is a player I have known for a couple of seasons and I’ve monitored his progress from Oldham, right the way through to now,” he told the Burnley website.

“He is at a good age and has gained a lot of experience over the last couple of seasons and I feel he can be a big part of us going forwards in the future.

“We want competition in all areas and we have been a little bit light in that area all season, so we feel he’s a very good player and an excellent signing for the club, both now and for the future.”

Done deal: Bournemouth sign Rhoys Wiggins... again

And we thought Groundhog Day was tomorrow.
Bournemouth have snapped up Rhoys Wiggins for a fourth time, as Eddie Howe sticks to what he knows.
The 28-year-old Welsh defender joins from Sheffield Wednesday for the rest of the season.

Newcastle target late Gomis swoop

Newcastle are making a late loan move for Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
Toon Army boss Steve McClaren has been unable to do a deal for West Brom’s Saido Berahino after having a third bid for a staggering £24m turned down.

Gomis has been a long term target and Swansea have blocked it but Newcastle have made a last ditch attempt.

West Brom have stuck to their guns and insisted that Berahino will not leave.

Gilingham extend Samuel loan

Gillingham have extended the loan of striker Dominic Samuel from Reading until the end of the season.Samuel has scored five in 13 games for the League One side since he arrived earlier in the campaign.

And Reading boss Brian McDermott told Get Reading that it’ll do him good to continue at Priestfield Stadium.

“I think for Dominic’s development it’s really important he can play a full season and be successful, as he has at Gillingham. It will be great for him,” he said.

“We can keep watching him doing his stuff and then he can come back to us having had a full season under his belt in the summer and be part of our squad.

“He’s getting stronger all the time, he’s scoring goals, his movement is terrific.“To take him back now and for him to only come off the bench, maybe for his development and for us, it would be better for him to stay.”

Rangers land Wolves starlet

Glasgow Rangers have completed the signing of teenage winger Mekhi McLeod from Wolves.
McLeod, 19, has signed with the fee based on incentives, promotion and success with Rangers believing he can be a first team regular.

Done deal: Fulham land Sporting attacker

Another completed loan move in the Championship, where Fulham have completed the signing of Zakaria Labyad on loan from Sporting.

The former PSV Eindhoven man joins until the end of the season.

Palace in for Mo Diame?

Crystal Palace are reportedly pondering a move for Hull midfielder Mohamed Diame.
The Mail report that the Eagles could be tempted to bid £5million for the Tigers star, who has played a big role for Steve Bruce’s table toppers this season.

However, it’s one-in one-out at Selhurst Park, so Alan Pardew will need to let someone go if he is to bring in the Senegal international.

Sanogo set to sign for Charlton?

Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo is reportedly on the verge of joining Charlton on loan for the rest of the season.
The French forward has spent the first half of the season on loan at Ajax, but has enjoyed little success in Holland.
And now SLP reporter Richard Cawley says the 23-year-old is close to signing for Championship club Charlton, who are battling to beat the drop into League One.

Liverpool just can't shake Enrique

Looks like Jose Enrique is reluctant to leave behind his salary at Anfield, even though he will not play for the Reds ever again.

The Spanish full back was in talks over a move to Newcastle, but he has turned down the advances of his former club, and has just started a training session at the Reds’ Melwood training ground.

With Liverpool not flying to Leicester for their Premier League game until tomorrow morning, Jurgen Klopp had scheduled a 5pm training session this evening - a clear sign he had no plans to sign any players himself.

And frustratingly for everyone connected to the Anfield club, Enrique is there, laughing and joking as usual, and probably taking some selfies, given his past record.

We are told that means he won’t be going to Newcastle unless something dramatic happens...which usually means he wants more money to go.

Jose Enrique in talks over Newcastle return

Jose Enrique is in talks about a return to his former club Newcastle - five years after attacking Toon’s transfer policy under Mike Ashley.

Liverpool are prepared to pay up some of his contract to get rid of the injury prone defender, who has six months left on his current Anfield contract.

Enrique has been cast into the wilderness this season, playing only with the kids in the scratch FA Cup teams Jurgen Klopp has sent out.

And the Reds will let him leave if he can strike a deal with the north east club where he first made his name in England.
