"Draw a fair result"

Post-match comments.
In particular considering the closing phase of the game against Hertha BSC, when the Wolves had a number of good chances, there could have been more than just a draw in it for the Green-Whites. As a result of the share of the spoils, the Wolves missed out on the opportunity to close the gap on the international qualifying places. VfL coach Dieter Hecking acknowledged the result as being a justified outcome for the game that was in it. For Pal Dardai and Hertha, the wait for their first win in the second half of the season continues.

Post-match comments:

Dieter Hecking: "On the whole, the draw is a fair result. In the first half, we saw a game very much characterised by tactics. We allowed for two or three errors, which Hertha used to create chances. In the second half, both sides were more attacking, more space opened up and we made use of that to take the lead. I would have liked to see us cling onto that lead for longer. In the closing phase, we probably should have snatched a winner. Jarstein did exceptionally well to keep Hertha in the game."

Pal Dardai: "In the first half, we controlled the game against a good team. Had we taken the lead at that point, we could possibly have caused something of a stir here. Our goal is to hold our own against teams as good as Wolfsburg. I naturally must pay a compliment to our keeper Rune Jarstein. We looked to play for the win, because we don’t want to continue dragging this run of draws around behind us."
