.Match day attendances in the Premier League would have to average over 63,000 if fans want the cheapest tickets to cover transfer spending.
The current top flight clubs have spent an estimated average of £182.4million on players over the last five seasons according to figures taken from transferleague.co.uk .
The clubs would each have had to sell a whopping 6m of their cheapest adult matchday tickets in order to match that spending, with the cheapest costing £31 each on average according to the BBC Price of Football survey.
That works out at 63,619 for every home league match over the last five seasons.
That's based on total spend though.
Net spend on transfers over the last five seasons has been "just" £88.4m per club on average, less than half the total spend figure.

The clubs would each have had to sell 30,005 of their cheapest matchday tickets at every home game over the last five season in order to match the net cost.
The transfer costs could be met by other matchday revenue options.The most expensive match day tickets at Premier League grounds are priced at £56.63 on average according to the BBC's study.
The clubs would each have had to sell 34,826 of these tickets per home game to match the cost of total transfer spend over the last five seasons or 16,425 for net spend.
A day at the match wouldn't be complete without a half-time pie.
However, each club's fans would have had to have bought as many as 588,709 at every home league game over the last five season in order to match the total transfer spend or 277,658 for the net spend.

Clubs could have tried to cover transfers through shirt sales.
An average adult Premier League replica shirt costs £49.68 according to the BBC's survey.
That means that the club would have needed to sell 754,253 a year for five seasons to match the amount that they had spent on transfers or 355,735 to match net spend.
