Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he blocked United from signing 30-year-old Mathieu Debuchy on loan in the January transfer window, as he didn’t want to give players to direct rivals. “You loan players out to clubs who do not have the resources, but not to direct opponents. There was nothing shocking in that and it’s true, I stand up for that.” Debuchy has since joined Bordeaux, averaging five defensive actions per league game for the French side.
