"It was important to take points from three straight games"

A ninety minute battle at the Commerz-Bank Arena ended goalless between Eintracht Frankfurt and HSV. HSV.de collected the following reaction after the matchday 22 tussle.

The HSV men we spoke to in the mixed zone in Frankfurt agreed one one thing: That the visitors played well in the first half but failed to take any of the chances they created which allowed Eintracht back into the game. In the end the point taken from the game was crucial because the home side became a lot stronger and could have won the game. Read here what was said after the game.

Rene Adler: We should have been one or two up at half time. We lacked prowess in front of goal. When you play as well as we did during the first half and away from home too, you simply have to take your chances. We must improve on that front and are working hard on that aspect in training. On reflection, because Frankfurt played so well after the break we can be satisfied with a point. Things became tough after the break as Eintracht’s crowd got behind them and that boosted them. In the end is doesn’t matter whether or not we should have been awarded a penalty or not. Such things even themselves out in the course of a season and we must not use it as an excuse. That is not the way we do things.

Gideon Jung: We took a point and that is what counts. We had several good chances in the fist half but sadly failed to take any of them. In the end I think we were not focused enough in front of goal. We have to do better in our next home game against Ingolstadt. The second half was a real battle during which Frankfurt improved so a point is okay. We have worked well in recent weeks and kept another clean sheet again today. That is a positive that we leave here with.

Aaron Hunt: Sadly we failed to take any of the good chances we created. We should have wrapped the game up and led by two goals at the break. Had we scored it would have been a different outcome. But we allowed them back into the game and they became much stronger in the second half. We slackened somewhat and lacked focus going forward which meant we created much fewer chances. It feels very bitter immediately after the game but at least we are taking a point home with us.
Third game in a HSV shirt: Josip Drmic is fitting nicely into the team.
Josip Drmic: I am feeling more at home on the pitch in every game and working better in the team. My work with Aaron and Rudi went well especially in the first half. But we still made mistakes and failed to find the better positioned man in certain situations. We had enough chances to score and should have done. We can learn a lesson for the future from this game.

Bruno Labbadia: We played very well in the first half. Almost every move forward ended in a scoring chance. But we were not prolific enough in front of goal. We missed the final pass or lacked focus in front of goal. What is important is that at least we are creating chances again. We can remember not doing so in the not too distant past. We are getting more chances by the game and we must work hard on taking them. We are well aware of that and work on it in training. We should have taken all three points today because of our first half performance, but in the end we were in danger of being hit on the break. Our defence did well to prevent that from happening. We take a point home with us and it is important that we have taken points from our last three games. With regard to the penalty not being awarded I can only say that we should only blame ourselves and nobody else.
