The former Arsenal man took to his social media to show fans a picture of himself posing alongside a Mercedes S-class with the caption 'On my way to another session'.

The problem for the Dane is that Wolfsburg are owned by rival car manufacturer Volkswagen and thus post has landed him in trouble with the club.

Joleon Lescott also found himself in hot water recently after posting a picture of a mercedes on social media following Aston Villa's 6-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

Bendtner has since been punished by the Bundesliga outfit, with the club's sporting director Klaus Allofs explaining that 'this is a misbehaviour and in the end it will cost money.'

The 28-year-old, who was left out of his side's 3-2 Champions League last-16 first leg victory over Genk, shouldn't be too surprised as Wolfsburg have clear rules for their players and staff with regard to the endorsement of other brands.

The club states that all employees are prohibited from arriving at training in any vehicle other than a Volkswagen.
