Staying put: Wayne Rooney wants to remain with the Red Devils
The Manchester United skipper and long-time agent Paul Stretford have received several inquiries from mega-rich Asian clubs – and all have been politely rebuffed, reports the Sunday People.
United last week took the unusual step of denying a Chinese Super League team had made a £27million bid for their captain and Rooney’s camp say the star isn’t interested in leaving.
Rooney insists he’s fully committed to United and intends to stay until at least 2018 to fulfil his ambition of lifting a trophy this season and breaking Bobby Charlton’s all-time scoring record.

But the only way he’ll break his Old Trafford deal – which after this season has two more years to run plus a third year as an option – is if United rip up his £300,000-a-week contract and tell him he’s no longer wanted at the club.
With Rooney the only genuine star name and recognised leader in the current United dressing room that scenario isn’t remotely likely – especially with United in turmoil on and off the pitch.
Sunday People Sport understands Jose Mourinho, widely tipped to takeover from Louis van Gaal, is also keen for Rooney to help him re-build a United side who have gone into decline since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
The United and England skipper is currently sidelined with a knee ligament injury that’s still being assessed by United’s medical staff and is expected to be out up to another five weeks.
