Granit Xhaka opens door to Manchester City move and admits "it is hard to say no when they want you"

The Swiss international has impressed in the Bundesliga since his move from Basel to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012.

Leader: Xhaka has matured into a key man for Gladbach

Granit Xhaka has issued a come-and-get-me plea to incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola by declaring he will struggle to say no to a summer move to the Etihad.

Swiss international Xhaka has recently spoken of his dream of moving to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old midfielder, currently with Borussia Monchengladbach, has been tipped for a summer move, with both Liverpool and Arsenal recently interested.

But a move to City, and the chance to work with Guardiola, could be too tough to turn down, admits the former Basel playmaker.

"Logically, it is hard to say no when Manchester City wants you and you can play there," Xhaka told Bild.

"I will openly admit that, and that surely does not only apply to me."

Guardiola takes over at City in the summer, replacing Manuel Pellegrini when his Bayern Munich contract comes to an end.

Xhaka has also been linked with a move to the Allianz Arena, after an impressive last 18 months with Gladbach, who have struggled to keep hold of their star names in recent seasons, most notably Marco Reus.

The midfielder has a contract at Borussia Park until 2019, which contains a £22million release clause - although it doesn't kick in until the summer of 2017.

Waving goodbye: Will Xhaka be on the move in the summer?

Asked whether he may stay put, he said: "Of course because I have a contract until 2019.
"If Gladbach will not let me go, I have no chance to change. What happens when the season is over, you will see."

One place Xhaka, who will line up for his country at Euro 2016 this summer, won't be heading however is China, despite the current influx of money in the Chinese game.

"I can only speak for me, but at my age, I would never go to China, not even for all the money in the world."
