Rejected: West Brom have turned down an offer for Saido Berahino

West Brom have rejected Newcastle's £21million bid for Saido Berahino.
Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace made it clear that they do not want to sell despite the incredible offer from Newcastle.

Mirror Sport understands that Newcastle may yet go back with an improved bid and believe West Brom may be tempted if the offer reaches £25m.

The new bidding war could also tempt Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino to make a fresh move as he is keen to strengthen his options and sign another striker to support Harry Kane.

West Brom turned down a bid in excess of £15m for Berahino from Newcastle last week. Berahino has just 18 months left on his current deal.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis is keen to cash in and use the money to strengthen his squad but Peace has taken a strong stance.

Newcastle are also close to a loan deal for Roma striker Seydou Doumbia who arrived on Tyneside on Sunday to discuss personal terms and to undergo a medical.

Doumbia would be a loan with a view to a permanent £7m switch but Berahino is the big deal they really want to push through.
