» Arsenal eyeing raid on West Ham for Bellerin replacement
Arsenal are looking at signing Sam Byram from West Ham, should Hector Bellerin decide on a return to Barcelona.
The Spanish right-back has been hugely impressive since breaking into
the Gunners first team in December 2014, and was even a late call-up to
the Spain international squad for the European Championships this
summer.
The 21 year-old was also chosen in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year, his club’s only representative in the selection.
Bellerin has come under praise from former club Barcelona in recent
months, and there is believed to be some sort of interest from the
Catalan giants in his signature, with Dani Alves set to depart from the
club and join Juventus.
The full-back moved to Arsenal from Barca back in 2011 as a 16
year-old, before signing his first ever professional contract two years
later.
The Gunners are now claimed to be considering their options in case
the 19 year-old does get tempted by the return to Spain, and are eyeing
Sam Byram as a possible replacement.
The West Ham defender joined from Leeds in January, but has so far failed to land a regular starting role in his side.
Byram made only four league appearances in the after his move, but has now emerged as a surprise target for Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal do have Carl Jenkinson and Calum Chambers available as cover
for Bellerin, while Mathieu Debuchy is expected to leave the club in the
coming window, having lost his place to the Spaniard previously.
Does Byram deserve the supposed interest? Would we even consider the sale of Bellerin?
