» Five summer deals Chelsea’s new boss should prioritise
Here, we look at the FIVE signings that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte needs
to make to improve a misfiring Chelsea side that had a terrible season,
finishing 10th and not qualifying for the Champions
League qualifoication zone for the first time since 2012…
No.5 – John Stones
The England and Everton youngster would be a fantastic addition to a
weak Chelsea defence, with only fellow England team-mate, Gary Cahill,
French wonderkid, Kurt Zouma, and legendary veteran, John Terry. Stones
would be an ideal buy for the Italian manager if he were to draft him
in this summer, but Chelsea look to be taken aback by Everton’s
astonishing £50m price tag.
At the age of 22, he has a very bright future.
No.4 – Alvaro Morata
The Spaniard has had a brilliant campaign in France with Spain at the
EUROs so far and has taken the place of Diego Costa in La Roja’s XI.
Although Real Madrid have triggered the buy-back clause they have in his
contract, it looks like the Madridstas are willing to offload Morata to
a Premier League club for a hefty profit. The striker would be perfect
for the west Londoners, who are struggling for options up top with Costa
and Loic Remy their only strikers.
No.3 – Antoine Griezmann
After sending Atletico Madrid to the Champions League Final last
season and scoring tons of goals, Antoine Griezmann is a huge target for
The Blues who are reported to be hugely interested in him. Again, a
striker is needed at Chelsea with flops Alexandre Pato and Radamel
Falcao having been sent back to their parent clubs after spending one
season on loan at Stamford Bridge. It would be a super signing if
Chelsea were to land the Frenchman, but after he signed a new deal with
Atletico Madrid, it seems he’ll be staying with the Spanish club for a
few more years to come… although money talks in modern football!
No.2 – Radja Nainggolan
Even after recent claims he wants to stay at Roma, the Belgian
midfield maestro is massive target for Chelsea and a big name on their
summer wish-list. He scored his first EURO 2016 goal in a 1-0 win over
Sweden, which sent Zlatan Ibrahimovic and co back home. The midfielder
would be a fabulous partner for Cesc Fabregas in the middle of the park
for Chelsea next season as they fight to shoot their way back up the
table and retain their glowing reputation.
No.1 – Paul Pogba
From being a nobody at Manchester United, to one of the best players
in the world at Juventus, Paul Pogba is the signing every Chelsea fan is
hoping the club will make. With his powerful shots, silky skills and
much, much more, the French hit-man will have a very expensive price
tag, but we all know he’s worth it. He is just what Chelsea need, as he
has a bit of pace, real strength and the passion to lead their side on
to victory and back to winning ways at the top of the table. Easily the
best young man in world football, Chelsea will have to challenge giants
such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City to buy this
starlet for their midfield.
