Eubank Jnr has set his sights on the unbeaten Kazakh and promoter Hearn has revealed talks over the fight have progressed well
Chris Eubank Jnr is close to agreeing a blockbuster deal to fight Gennady Golovkin in September.
Eubank Jnr stopped Tom Doran in four rounds on Saturday night in his first defence of the British middleweight title.
Golovkin immediately called him out on social media with the Brit warning he 'wasn't ready for what's coming'.
The pair's camps have been locked in negotiations over the past week with Eubank Jnr set to pocket around £3m from the fight.
A September showdown with the unbeaten Kazkh at the O2 Arena is possible, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
"It is very close to being made. We had a positive meeting with Sky and the major details are nearly all agreed," he told the Mail.
"We still have stuff to discuss but I expect both sides to sign by the end of this weekend.
"We have been negotiating and each camp is up for it and September is
in my mind at the O2 in London. But we are nearly at the point where
each side needs to put up or shut up.
Golovkin would be the big favourite for the fight, having won 32 of his 35 matches by knockout.
Hearn admits he didn't think the Eubank family were serious about fighting the "most feared boxer on the planet."
Eubank Jnr's victory over Doran last weekend was his first bout since his controversial victory over Nick Blackwell.
