St Johnstone have signed Michael Doyle as cover for Dave
Mackay, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season through
injury.
The Alloa Athletic right-back has made the move to McDiarmid Park and will be included in Saints' squad for the visit of Aberdeen on Saturday.
Mackay has been sidelined with a hip injury, requiring further treatment after undergoing surgery on the problem in the summer. It's estimated that he will miss four to five months of action.
However, Tommy Wright will now be able to call upon Doyle, who had spent five years with the Wasps since joining from Kilmarnock - via a loan at Stirling Albion.
“I know Michael well," Wright told the club's official website. "He was about to sign for Cork City, but wants full-time football in Scotland and this opportunity has come up at the right time for him.
"He’s a good athlete and experienced and will give us good cover at a critical stage in the season."
