Dieter Hecking is expecting a surge from the Wolves against FC Augsburg.
On Saturday, April 23rd (kick-off 15:30 CET), VfL Wolfsburg will be in action in the Volkswagen Arena for the penultimate occasion this season. In FC Augsburg, the guests will be a side in the battle to avoid relegation, but also a team that have enjoyed positive results in recent games – contrary to the hosts: "We’ve got some making up to do. We will be demanding everything from our players once again for the clash with Augsburg. The season is not over yet," insisted Dieter Hecking at the pre-match press conference.
"The team is dissatisfied"
So far as qualifying for European competition next season goes, the Wolves no longer have their fate in their own hands. Even the chance of taking seventh place, which would be enough considering the pairing in the DFB-Cup final, is really very marginal – something which frustrates more than just the coach: "The team is dissatisfied. It’s not as if the players are indifferent about the current situation!" The coach has heard some very self-critical statements in discussions with his players. Words alone are not enough – that’s for sure! "We need to prove ourselves again with actions on the pitch."

In order to ensure just that is the case against FCA, Hecking has insisted his men "show a mixture of cool heads, enthusiasm and drive." During the most recent outing in Bremen, the 51-year-old saw a lack of some elementary elements, which will need to be regressed. "The will must be there to go the extra yard and help one another," were Hecking’s instructions to his team.
"Elementary" is also a fair description of the relegation battle which this weekend’s opponents find themselves in, but thanks to recent wins against direct opponents from Stuttgart and Bremen in recent weeks have afforded FCA some breathing space. "They are a team characterised by fighting spirit and commitment," noted Hecking. It will be up to the Green-Whites to rise to the challenge and take the win "if we display our potential on the pitch," clarified the coach
Vieirinha doubtful
The Wolves will have to make do without the services of the suspended André Schürrle, as well as the injured Julian Draxler (muscle bundle tear) and Carlos Ascues (muscle sinew tear). There also remain doubts over the availability of Vieirinha. The Portuguese international pulled a muscle in training and as to whether he will be fit to play a part was still unclear on Thursday.CREDIT TO:https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/en/info/news/detailspage/artikel/the-will-must-be-there-42456.html
