The Bundesliga ladies from VfL Wolfsburg are in an exceptionally strong position to progress to the final of the biggest club competition in women’s football in Europe.
In the first semi-final in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, on Sunday evening, the Wolves put on an impressive display and secured a convincing 4-0 (3-0) win, forming a stunningly strong basis for the return-leg. Isabel Kerschowski (7'), Alexandra Popp (28‘) and Babett Peter (42') put the Wolves very much in the driving seat before the break, in front of a crowd of 3,007 spectators in the AOK Stadion. In the second half, Ramona Bachmann then added a fourth (58'). As to whether the Green-Whites can book their final ticket for the third time in the club’s history (May 26th in Reggio Emilia), will be decided on this coming Sunday (May 1st), when coach Ralf Kellermann travel to the Stadion am Brentanobad for the return-leg.

Ralf Kellermann: "A massive compliment to my team. They put on a top performance over the ninety minutes – in my opinion the best display of this season! In the latter stages of the game, I was a little frustrated that we didn’t make it an even greater win, but that is complaining at the very highest level. Everything worked out just as we had intended – the way we defended and operated in attack. Aside from that, we got the goals at just the right times. It was a wonderful evening for us."
