Manchester United interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Manchester United are reportedly interested in securing a summer transfer for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabon international has been excellent this season, netting 37 goals in 45 games for Dortmund across all competitions. This has sparked speculation that several of the biggest clubs in world football are interested in making a move during the close-season.

Any deal involving Aubameyang would certainly be expensive, with the forward valued at £70 million, according to the Daily Mail.

However, the report suggests that United are likely to push ahead with their attempt to sign the forward, who would like to play in England.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has a shot accuracy of 57% in the Bundesliga this season.

Aubameyang’s blistering speed would certainly add an extra dimension to United’s side, but it would surely be difficult to persuade the 26-year-old to move to Old Trafford should Louis van Gaal’s side miss out on Champions League football.

United would certainly benefit from having an additional attacking option at their disposal though. Van Gaal mentioned recently that captain Wayne Rooney could be deployed as a midfielder on a regular basis, while Anthony Martial has been used out wide of late.
