Lichtsteiner: ‘Juventus still regret Munich’

Stephan Lichtsteiner admits Juventus’ Champions League elimination “still eats at me”.
The Bianconeri were 2-0 up at Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Last 16 tie, and had a third incorrectly ruled-out for offside.
The Bavarian side hit back with two late goals, and went on to win the match 4-2 in extra time to progress 6-4 on aggregate.

“It still eats at me,” Lichtsteiner admitted in an interview with Premium Sport.

“The defeat in Munich still feels bad. Over these past two seasons Juve have shown we can match anyone in Europe, last year we went to the final and this year we were very close to eliminating Bayern Munich.

“Next year we have to continue like this and try to improve some small details.”

The Old Lady wrapped-up a fifth consecutive Scudetto on Monday, when did they know they’d retain their title?

“After the game against Fiorentina certainly, having already won at San Siro [against Milan in Week 32] we were more or less convinced we’d win the Scudetto.

“We knew Napoli wouldn’t give up until the end though, so even if we were optimistic you are never 100 per cent certain while it’s not mathematically sure.

“Who partied the most? All of us more or less, but obviously you’ve seen Paul [Pogba]’s fall! So you know more or less what happened.”
