Whether the Premier League side move for the player or not, they always seem intent in bringing quality to the side and the way this season has gone for the club, they have to bring in a lot of quality if they are to challenge for the Premier League under Louis van Gaal or someone else.
Bringing in some top players might actually hurt the side and we list out three big marquee signings that Manchester United should avoid at all costs next season.
Gonzalo Higuain
The Argentine has always been linked with a move away from the Italian Serie A club Napoli and with the side barely having a chance of winning the title thanks to the dominance of Juventus, he could be a realistic target for the Premier League side that has been looking for a quality signing to bang in the goals.

Higuain though should not be brought into the club, he seems to be a player who can do the good stuff for a club that is not in the limelight, but he was also forced out of Real Madrid and coming to Manchester United might not be the best thing for him thanks to the physicality of the league. Higuain might have scored 32 goals this season, but he would find it hard to bag the goals in England.
Edinson Cavani
Another Napoli striker, albeit a former one has been a mainstay in a PSG side that dominates the French Ligue. Edinson Cavani has scored 20 goals in 46 games this season for the Paris side, but with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaving the club at the end of the season, United would have to pay through their nose if they are to bring the Uruguayan to the Premier League.
Cavani though isn’t the most lethal striker in the world and that could be a problem for the Manchester side, plus paying a huge amount for the 29-year-old won’t give the side a striker to build a team around for the future.
Ilkay Gundogan
The Germany international has often been linked with a move to Manchester United just like Mats Hummels, but the midfielder shouldn’t think about moving to Manchester United. The midfielder hasn’t had the best of seasons for Dortmund and he might need a couple of seasons to get to his best due to an injury he sustained in the 2013-14 season.
The midfielder had only played three games in that season and the German has only 23 league appearances for the Bundesliga side this season. Manchester United might need a new midfielder who can give them the creative edge but Gundogan isn’t the right option for the side.
