St. Pauli exercises option on Fafa Picault
After enjoying a solid season in 2.Bundesliga, American Fafa Picault will extend his stay in Germany.
FC St. Pauli announced on Friday that the club has picked up a player option for the 25-year old forward, keeping Picault with the club until 2018.
Picault joined St. Pauli in the summer of 2015 after an unsuccessful stint with Czech side Sparta Prague, where he made one first-team appearance across all competitions.
“Fafa is a very fast striker who is an uncomfortable opponent with his playing style,” said head coach Ewald Lienen. “He can be used on the outer track and at the center. Despite his size, he is a good header of the ball. In recent games in which he played in the middle, he has also proven his goalscoring ability. ”
Since joining the German side, Picault has notched four goals and an assist in league competition. The New York City-native has made 14 appearances for St. Pauli, including five starts for the club.
Picault began his professional career with NASL side Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2012, before excelling with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers two years later.
