From May 16th until May 22nd, VfL Wolfsburg will undertake a trip to the Far East for some friendly action and promotional activities.
Following excursions in 2000, 2012 and 2014, between May 16th and 22nd, 2016, VfL Wolfsburg will make a fourth trip to China, where they will play two friendly games and show their presence as brand ambassadors for the Bundesliga and Volkswagen. On May 18th, head-coach Dieter Hecking’s men will be at the Volkswagen location in Changchun, where, as in 2012, they will take on local Super League team Changchun Yatai. Last time around, the Wolves ran our 3-2 winners. On May 18th, the VfL crew will then travel on to Zhuhai, where they will be in action again on May 21st. The opponent there will be a top European club.

Both in Changchun, as well as in the tourism centre of Zhuhai, aside from the planned friendly-game marketing activities with Volkswagen and further Wolfsburg United-Partners, there are also sporting leisure activities organised for the team. As a co-operational partner, we have also won the state media group CCTV.
"We have a continually growing group of fans in China, who don’t just follow our games, which are broadcast on television by CCTV, but are also in constant with activities at VfL through the club’s digital-media channels. That positive development in recent years is something we are encouraging to a great degree and we have always emphasised that, without regular physical presence on location, it would not be possible to attain a long-term foothold in China - neither with the Chinese football fans, nor with the partners and sponsors from China, who have grown in their numbers and involvement with VfL Wolfsburg very pleasingly from year to year. With the trip in May, we want to show our appreciation of the ever growing support from China and, at the same time, function as brand ambassadors for the Bundesliga and Volkswagen," explained VfL Director of Sport Klaus Allofs.
