Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Steve Nicol has told ESPN FC that Liverpool should not make a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels in the summer transfer window.
Hummels is rated as one of the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga and has been linked with a move away from Dortmund.
According to The Mirror, Premier League duo Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in signing the 27-year-old at the end of the season.
The Guardian recently quoted Hummels’s father and agent, Hermann, as saying: “Manchester City could also be a very interesting option. They’ve not done so well this year, but they are going to win the league next year. They are getting the best coach in the world.”

Former Liverpool defender Nicol is not convinced by Hummels and has explained why he would not be a good signing for the Merseyside outfit.
“He had like a two-three-year spell when Dortmund were pushing for the Bundesliga, winning it,” said Nicol on ESPN FC when asked if Hummels would be a good signing for Liverpool. “He did well in the World Cup with Germany in 2014, and from there, this guy has gone so far down the hill.”
“I am just saying that you have to go and buy this guy, and you are spending money on a guy who I don’t think is particularly that much better than what he (Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp) has already got,” added the former Scotland international.
Hummels has scored two goals and created six chances in 26 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund so far this season.
The Germany international defender has a pass accuracy of 84% and a shot accuracy of 88%, and has won 105 headers, 21 dribbles and 43 tackles.
Dortmund are second in the Bundesliga table at the moment with 71 points from 30 matches, seven points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
