Contrary to several reports, Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal did not offer to resign on Saturday, January 23 after their home loss to Southampton.
Several reports have it that Van Gaal informed United executive vice Chairman Ed Woodward of his decision to resign but the club chief asked him not to.
The reports were believable when Van Gaal was seen in the Netherlands on Monday, leaving assistant Ryan Giggs to lead training.
Van Gaal however returned to training on Tuesday morning to begin preparations for Friday’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Derby County.According to BBC sources at the club have
informed that Van Gaal never asked to leave and that the club are
willing to stick with the 64-year-old at least until the end of the
season.
The Red Devils have won just two of their past 10 Premier League matches and are five points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
Van Gaal and his players were booed during and after Saturday's home game, in which they had just one shot on target.
