Kolasinac keen on new deal

Liverpool have been halted in their chase for Sead Kolasinac after he revealed his desire to extend his contract with Schalke, Talksport reports.

The 22-year-old emerged as a possible left-back target for manager Jurgen Klopp in recent weeks as he was looking to provide Alberto Moreno with more competition in the role.

It was earlier believed that the defender was considering an exit after failing to agree terms over a new deal, but Kolasinac has now come out to admit that he wants to continue his stay.
“At Schalke I found a second home and my desire is to renew the contract,” Kolasinac told Sky Deutschland.

His current deal will expire in 2017, meaning that the Bundesliga outfits will need to begin negotiations with him soon or risk seeing him leave on a free transfer next year.

Klopp is expected to undergo a squad overhaul in the upcoming window given that his side have failed to keep up their chase for a top four finish.

The Reds are currently sitting eighth on the Premier League table, but are nine points behind fourth place side Manchester City.
