Derek McInnes: Aberdeen have the nerve to handle title pressure

Derek McInnes believes his Aberdeen side have shown that they can handle the pressure of a Premiership title race.
The Dons closed the gap at the top of the table to just three points with Wednesday's 2-1 win over leaders Celtic.
McInnes' side have previously been accused of faltering when it matters most, but he launched a defence of his players' mindset after the crucial win at Pittodrie.

"I always think it’s very unfair on my players when people refer to that," McInnes responded when asked about his side's perceived lack of mental strength.

"We have handled the big occasion tonight, we’ve been very consistent for a couple years.
"I thought it was a wee bit dismissed last season because we didn’t really take Celtic to any real stretch.

"None of you actually believe we can win it. I’m asked that question all the time, but my players have demonstrated consistently enough now that we - when we bring our performance and have our intent - we win more often than we don’t.

"The players deserve a lot of credit for it."

"You could roll out games that people think we have not handled the pressure, but there has been far more when we have dealt with it. Sometimes that gets forgotten."
