Harry Redknapp during the festivalSpeaking on talkSPORT, broadcast June 11th, Harry Redknapp has said it is a bold move for Everton defender John Stones to turn down Barcelona.
The Everton star has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park in recent years, with Chelsea pushing hard for his signature last summer.
One of the clubs reportedly interested in him are Barcelona, with numerous reports in Spain claiming they eye him as a future star for their defence.
This week saw the Daily Mail reporting that he had turned down the La Liga champions though, as he favours a move to Manchester City to join Pep Guardiola.
Many met the news with surprise, and Redknapp was one of them, saying it is a bold decision for Stones to make if it is true.
“It’s a bold shout isn’t it?” he told talkSPORT.
“I suppose he maybe sees Manchester City and that next year they’ll be working under Pep Guardiola. Maybe he feels he’s got a chance of winning the Premier League.”
England's John StonesIt will certainly be interesting to see if Stones does make a big money move this summer having been linked with a number of clubs.
He was heavily criticised for his performances this past season, but every indication has so far been that that has not put off the big sides.
Instead they all appear to be keen on his signature and it seems Everton will face a fight to keep him at Goodison Park once again.
Would John Stones be wrong to turn down Barcelona?
