Bayern Munich signing misses own unveiling through injury.

Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich have lost just one Bundesliga game all season.

Bayern Munich signing Serdar Tasci missed his own unveiling after suffering a head injury ahead of his first meeting with the press.

And what’s worse, Bayern signed him for defensive cover because Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez both recently got injured themselves.

The defensive-injury lurgy at the Allianz claimed Tasci before he could meet with the club’s sporting Director, Matthias Sammer, who was ready to present the 28-year-old with an official Bayern jersey with his name and number adorning the back.

But the Bayern chief instead had to announce that their latest recruit was being assessed for a possible concussion after a clash of heads in training. Hardly the start Tasci would have been dreaming of.
Although the knock kept him out of his own unveiling, it looks like the problem might not keep him out of Saturday’s meeting with Bayer Leverkusen, with Sammer confirming that he could recover to feature at the BayArena.
“In training he had a collision with his head. Maybe it is a mild concussion,” Sammer told Goal. “He may turn out [in] two or three days, that’s not so bad.

“He is an experienced player who wants to grow into an important role for the national team. A player who brings many qualities – he is 28 but I hope he will seize this opportunity.
“Serdar is really looking forward to the experience and can help us with his character and his style of play.
“The situation was clear for everyone that we were in a difficult situation after Martinez’s injury, so we decided to sign a new centre-back.”

Bayern Munich have conceded fewer goals than any team across Europe's top five leagues this term.

Bayern Munich have conceded fewer goals than any team across Europe’s top five leagues this term.

Martinez is expected to be in action soon after confirming via Twitter earlier this week that his knock wasn’t a serious one, whilst Boateng recently joined a lengthy injury list including Franck Ribery, Mario Gotze, Medhi Benatia, Rafinha and Sven Ulreich among Bayern’s casualties.

Despite their fitness concerns Pep Guardiola’s side currently sit pretty at the top of the table with an eight-point lead over closest challengers Borussia Dortmund.
