Clarets boss Sean Dyche has voiced his frustration over situation which meant he couldn't strengthen his Championship promotion chasers in January
Burnley are still to receive a single penny for Ings over seven months after he left them on a Bosman to join Liverpool because the clubs cannot agree a compensation figure.
A tribunal will decide how much Liverpool must pay for the England striker and Dyche would have loved that money before the last transfer window to strengthen the Clarets’ promotion push.
The Burnley boss says he has no idea when the matter will be resolved and hopes it will be before the end of the campaign.
“It’s not helpful,” he said. “Like any business, ideally, you get funds in and then you look and say ‘what can we put out’. That is a grey area for us with no knowledge of where it will end up.”
“So that is a challenge. But they are the rules, whether we agree, like them or dislike them, they are the rules.
“We are certainly hoping it’s by the end of the season, to bring closure for everyone, for all parties.”
Ings, 23, scored three goals in five games prior to suffering his serious knee injury in October and Dyche feel Burnley should receive a significant amount.
Ings scored 11 Premier League goals last season for Burnley and the Clarets have noted that Liverpool received £49million for Raheem Sterling, who netted eight by comparison.
“We’re all of the thinking it should be a considerable deal,” he said. “We don’t know how considerable, but we’re certainly thinking more than a couple of shekels.
“It would be helpful to know that’s done, it’s parked, the club has got ‘this’, we can use ‘that’, so let’s go and use it.”
