Having beaten Rubin Kazan in the race for Antonio Sanabria’s signature,
Spurs are set to add further firepower to their attack as they aim build
on last season’s title challenge
Roma
forward Antonio Sanabria is set to swap the Italian capital for London,
after the Giallorossi agreed a fee with Tottenham Hotspur for the
youngster.
During a loan spell with Sporting Gijon in Spain last season, the
20-year-old caught the eye of a number of Europe’s top clubs by bagging
11 La Liga goals and one assist.
That form has led to Spurs swooping for his signature and they are
closing in on their man after agreeing to pay €15 million for the
talented Paraguayan.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have beaten out stiff competition from
Russian club Rubin Kazan, who were willing to pay the same amount for
the striker, but Spurs have already agreed terms with Sanabria’s
representatives.
The Giallorossi are likely to use the money from the youngster’s sale to fund moves for Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj and a new right-back, with Pablo Zabaleta and Mattia De Sciglio their prime targets.
During a lunch with sporting director Walter Sabatini in Florence,
coach Luciano Spalletti agreed to the sale of Sanabria, who began his
career at Barcelona before moving to the Stadio Olimpico in 2014.
