» Southend winger Worrall lined up to be Millwall boss Harris' first summer signing
Blackpool's Brad Potts and Southend United's David Worrall battle for the ball
"We are very close to adding a wide player to the squad,"
Millwall boss Neil Harris is poised to announce his first signing of the summer with Southend winger David Worrall in the frame.
The 26-year-old wideman has come to the end of a two-year deal at Roots Hall so would arrive at The Den on a free transfer.
Harris said yesterday he was closing in on a midfielder.
"We
are very close to adding a wide player to the squad," said the Den
boss. "It will be important to get that done, so hopefully it can be
announced soon.
"There will be an attacking element to the players
I want to bring in and that is key for the fan base to see that we are
going to try and score a lot of goals."
Harris lives only a few
hundred yards from Roots Hall and has kept a close eye on Worrall’s
progress since he joined the Shrimpers from Rotherham in 2014.
The
former West Brom ace played in both games for Phil Brown’s side against
Millwall last season - the 2-0 Southend win at The Den and their 4-0
defeat by the Lions, where he was taken off at half-time.
