According to a report from the Coventry Telegraph today, Celtic are the latest club to be interested in signing Bristol Rovers’ striker Matt Taylor.
The Pirates will do well to keep hold of their star striker with his contract set to expire at the end of the month and it’s unlikely a new deal will be signed at the Memorial Stadium.
Bagging 28 goals in 50 games in all competitions last season has put Taylor firmly in the shop window and drawn attention from many clubs including the Scottish giants, Leeds United, and Wigan Athletic.
His goal-scoring form was an instrumental factor in Rovers’ promotion winning season which will see them play in League One for the 2016-17 season.
The 26 year-old made a name for himself with non-league outfit North Leigh, where he netted 80 goals in 92 games in a two-year stint with the club.
A move up to the Conference to play for Forest Green Rovers preceded his 2014 move to Bristol Rovers.
Despite starting his Pirates career with just three goals in his first 18 games, Taylor would go on to score a total of 20 goals and achieve promotion to League Two.
Formerly an England C international, Taylor has an impressive record of 47 goals in 94 league games for Rovers.
