Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig have made a contract offer to West Ham wonderkid Reece Oxford, according to Sky Sports.

The 17-year-old broke into West Ham’s first-team last season, becoming the club’s youngest-ever player when he featured against FC Lusitanos in the Europa League first qualifying round. He later became the Hammers’ youngest Premier League appearance maker starring in the 2-0 away victory at Arsenal on the opening day.

The England U21 international made 12 appearances in all competitions for West Ham last season and is tipped for a bright future with Slaven Bilic set to hand the versatile youngster more playing time next season.

A centre-half by trade, Bilic entrusted Oxford in the holding role in the majority of his appearances for the first-team, but his long-term future is still seen at the heart of the back four.

Under contract until 2018, Oxford can’t sign a longer deal until he turns 18 in December according to FA regulations, but that hasn’t stopped clubs being interested in his services.

Manchester United and Liverpool have both been credited with interest in the £15m-rated youngster, while Newcastle have reportedly made an approach to sign the Englishman on a season-long loan.

However, it’s newly-promoted Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig who have made an offer to the player as they are willing to pay him £20,000-a-week to make the move to German football.

Sky Sports understands that it’s Oxford’s desire to remain in English football and will likely turn down a move to the Bundesliga with Leipzig.

Oxford is considered the best young talent at the club and West Ham will do all they can to make sure he stays put for the long-term.
