Arsenal are ready to make a move for Bayern Munich centre-half Mehdi Benatia this summer, according to The Daily Star.
The Gunners are believed to be examining their options at the heart of their rearguard ahead of next season, especially given that Per Mertesacker is getting older.
The report suggests that Benatia was a target for the North London side two years ago when the Bundesliga giants ensnared the African enforcer from Roma.

With Mats Hummels revealing that he wants to lead Borussia Dortmund and join the Bavarians this summer, Benatia’s role at the Allianz Arena looks under threat.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to be an admirer of the 29-year-old and will launch a bid to bring him to the Emirates Stadium before next season.
Benatia is comfortable on the ball and a bullish defender but has the likes of Jerome Boateng, Javi Martinez, Holger Badstuber and David Alaba for competition to start for Bayern.
