Christensen named in Kirin Cup squad

For many Borussia players, the season is far from over. Andreas Christensen will take part in a tournament with the Denmark national team, whilst Martin Hinteregger has been called up for Austria's EURO 2016 squad.

Andreas Christensen is in the Denmark squad for the Kirin Cup. The Scandinavians face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday 3rd June in Aichi before contesting either the final or the third-place play-off against Bulgaria or host nation Japan. The Denmark national team will meet on Monday 23rd May in Helsingør for a pre-tournament training camp.

Hinteregger in EURO 2016 squad
Austria manager Marcel Koller has named his provisional 24-man squad for EURO 2016. As expected, Borussia defender Martin Hinteregger has been included. "We've gone with tried and tested players," said Koller, who has until 30th May to trim his squad down by one player. The Austria team will begin preparations on Tuesday 24th May in Laax, Switzerland. They have friendlies arranged against Malta (31st May) and Holland (4th June).

Hazard on standby, Wendt left out
Thorgan Hazard is not in the provisional 23-man Belgium squad, but the Borussia attacker has been named on the standby list and may yet play in the tournament if someone has to pull out at short notice. Manager Marc Wilmots also has until 30th May to name his final squad. Surprisingly, Oscar Wendt has not been included in the Sweden squad. The Borussia left back was left out by manager Erik Hamren. "I'm obviously disappointed but I was prepared for the news," said Wendt.

Switzerland squad to be confirmed on 29th May
Switzerland coach Vladimir Petkovic intends to confirm his EURO 2016 squad on 29th May. It can be assumed that in goalkeeper Yann Sommer and midfielder Granit Xhaka, two Borussia players will feature. The national team will prepare for the finals in Lugano from 22nd May to 5th June and will play friendlies against Belgium on 28th May and Moldova on 3rd June.
