Arsenal transfer news and rumours: Mehdi Benatia to reject Emirates move in favour of Roma return?

Mehdi Benatia will turn down a move to Arsenal.

The defender has struggled to nail down a regular first-team spot at Bayern Munich this season and is believed to be a summer target for the Gunners.
But it seems that he would prefer a move back to Serie A and Roma.

When asked about a potential return to Roma, Benatia said : “I would certainly do it, everyone knows that Rome is a special place for me.

“So many people have remained in my heart.”

Liverpool will listen to offers for Jordan Ibe this summer - with Arsenal one of the interested parties, according to Squawka.
The young midfielder is expected to leave Anfield in some form this summer, potentially on loan, as he seeks more regular game time.























Jurgen Klopp is reportedly still hopeful that Ibe can fulfil his potential but has so far failed to shine since the German boss arrived on Merseyside.
Arsenal are believed to be interested in his services, as are Tottenham and Watford.

Arsene Wenger is checking on Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi to bolster his strike force, writes Mirror Football's John Cross.
The Arsenal boss is eager to shake up his squad and ­Argentina star Icardi could be available for £25million this summer.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have been tracking the 23-year-old forward, who is odds on to leave the Italian club.

Wenger has also looked at Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, 23.
The Spain international is a long-standing target – with the Gunners aiming to strengthen with a new No.2 keeper, centre-half, midfielder and a forward – and the accent is on youth, writes Mirror Football's John Cross.
Keeper David Ospina, desperate for first-team football, has had offers from Besiktas, several French clubs and interest from Everton.

Arsenal have already checked out Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez, 20, capped by France at Under-21 level. Wenger needs to strengthen his back four and may bid for Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, 19, as well as Fulham’s hot teenage ­prospect Ryan Sessegnon.

Arsenal are confident of completing a deal for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka , 23, while Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh ­Mkhitaryan, 27, is also up for grabs.

Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky are all set to leave. Arteta has had coaching offers from Manchester City and Tottenham.

First team trio Santi Cazorla, Calum Chambers and Tomas Rosicky all started for Arsenal U21s' clash against Blackburn, writes Mirror Football's James Whaling.

The Gunners' first team have a huge Premier League clash at Manchester City on Sunday, and the players will be keen to turn in a good display ahead of the trip to the Etihad.

Arsenal currently have a three-point gap over Manuel Pellegrini's side, who themselves are only four points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United, who have a game in hand.
Cazorla hasn't featured for the Gunners since suffering knee ligament damage in November.

Chambers last played in March having fallen down the pecking order, while Rosicky is yet to feature in a Premier League game this season and looks set to leave in the summer.
