£50m price tag wouldn’t deter Arsenal in hunt for elite Bayern Munich international – report

Arsenal are understood to be primed to move for Bayern Munich frontman Robert Lewandowski if the frontman opts to leave the Bundesliga giants.

According to the Mirror, the Gunners are keen on the Poland international, and would not be put off should the Bavarian heavyweights demand big money for one of their key assets.

Lewandowski has three years left on his contract at the Allianz Arena, and the Mirror notes that should he express his desire to move on, Bayern would put an eye-watering price tag of £50 million on the lethal frontman.

While the Gunners have no shortage of talented attacking midfielders and creative players, they lack a truly effective finisher.

In the past, Arsene Wenger has been able to call on supreme attacking talents such as Ian Wright, Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp, but it remains to be seen whether the club’s current crop of forwards can fire the North London giants to the final, having fallen short this season.

Olivier Giroud has managed 12 goals in 36 league games this season, averaging one in three, while Theo Walcott has bagged just five goals in 27 outings, and Danny Welbeck—who has admittedly struggled with injury—has four in 10.

Lewandowski, by contrast, leads the Bundesliga scoring charts having bagged 27 goals in 30 league outings to date this term.
