» Tottenham and Manchester City facing uphill battle for Serie A stars
Tottenham are sending representatives to Milan to negotiate a move
for Inter striker Mauro Icardi. The Premier League outfit are set to
offer £37.8 million for the forward, according to Gianluca Di Marzio
(via Football-Italia).
The
23-year-old Argentine has scored an impressive 52 goals in 105 games
for the Nerazzurri, after joining them in 2013 from Sampdoria for £9.75
million and making his way through the Barcelona youth ranks.
Tottenham
were eager to offer Champions League football, something Icardi will
not experience with the Nerazzurri this season. However, Inter are ready
to reject proposals from Spurs and Atletico Madrid for their star
striker.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have seen an opening offer of
£12.4 million for Torino right-back Bruno Peres rejected, with Watford
also expressing an interest.
According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport,
Watford offered the same fee for the 26-year-old Brazilian, who
provided three goals and seven assists in 33 appearances last season
after joining the Granata in 2014 from Santos for only £1.5 million.
Despite
the rejection, the Citizens are pondering a new offer for Peres, who
would fit well in Pep Guardiol’s system with running defensive wingers.
