I was in the team the last time we beat shalke

Pal Dardai was in the Hertha Berlin team the last time they beat FC Schalke 04, back on 17 September 2006.

Hertha Berlin refused to get carried away with talk of UEFA Champions League football after their 2-0 victory over FC Schalke 04 on Friday evening.

Report: Hertha Berlin 2-0 FC Schalke 04

Goals: 1-0 Ibisevic (42'), 2-0 Stark (65')

Pal Dardai (Hertha coach): "I played in the team the last time we beat Schalke! Credit to the team, they did their jobs perfectly. Hertha are a good side at home and the new turf has helped us and our way of playing. We had a lot of chances that we didn't take, but the important thing is that we didn't concede. That shows that we're organised and disciplined. The table looks good but it's only Friday. We'll have another look after the weekend."

Vedad Ibisevic (Hertha striker): "We're a team that takes things game by game. We give it everything and we're able to beat teams like Schalke. We wanted to show a reaction to the Hamburg game [last weekend].

I wasn’t bothered by the run [of not scoring in Hertha's last eight home games]. It's good that we can produce performances like that when we've had a tough result."

Niklas Stark (Hertha defender): "All in all it was a bit scrappy but we played really well. We struggled at times but they're a great team, especially in attack. We deserved the win though. It feels awesome to score my first Bundesliga goal. The Champions League would be nice for any club. We have ambitions but we'll see what else we can achieve in the league this season."

Tolga Cigerci (Hertha midfielder): "We’re taking it game by game, step by step. we have another tough game coming up and we’ll keep our feet on the ground. It’s a big objective but we need to keep performing as we have done this season."

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke striker): "The first goal was important in this game. We almost got it but they ended up scoring it. The second goal was from a set-piece and we couldn't recover. We tried to turn the game around. We need to look at it game by game. We have eight matches left to achieve our objectives. Every game in this league is tough but we have enough quality in the team."

Ralf Fährmann (Schalke goalkeeper): "It was quite an even match in terms of chances created. We just didn't take ours and they did. We had to take a few more risks in the second half and they made the most of the gaps we left. It's a bitter defeat but we still want to be in Europe next season. We need to keep going and moving on. We have tough games coming up - next week is a six pointer against Gladbach - but we have a chance to put it right and that's a good thing."

Andre Breitenreiter (Schalke coach): "The boy gave it everything but Hertha were stronger than us. The table is tight anyway so there will be more twists and turns. We need to focus on what we're doing and make sure we're prepared for Gladbach."
