Hertha deserved the win

The run is over. After ten years without a loss in Berlin, the Royal Blues have finally been defeated by Hertha on their home soil. schalke04.de caught up with the managers after the game.

Congratulations to Hertha on the deserved win. In the first half it was very tight and both teams stayed compact. There were very few chances, maybe one or two for each side. Hertha took theirs clinically. I don’t know if it was a foul on Alessandro Schöpf before the goal but that wasn’t so crucial. We could’ve defended the goal far better, we outnumbered them. There was enough time to prevent the goals we conceded.

After the interval we had a good chance but didn’t take advantage of it. Hertha had a corner that we were naïve in defending. We often made the wrong decision with the final pass. Hertha were also very confident for a period after their second goal and we were lucky not to concede more. We tried everything to get a good chance, even brought on a few strikers. Hertha were efficient and it was a deserved win.

Pal Dardai:

Compliments to my team. The boys put in a really strong performance today, very intelligent to try and find the way through. We could’ve even scored more goals. We ran all over the pitch and dominated the proceedings. We’ll continue to work hard and then have to see what comes of it.
