Joachim Löw has dropped Marco Reus, Julian Brandt, Karim Bellarabi and Sebastian Rudy from the German national team as he made his final, 23-men squad for Euro 2016 public on Tuesday.
This means that previous candidates to miss out on the squad such as Joshua Kimmich or Julian Weigl will go to France along with the rest of the team.
At 12:38 CET, Joachim Löw took the stage along with DFB media boss Jens Grittner. Coach Löw noted the decision was not an easy one to make for him: “The decision we made was discussed at length among our coaching staff and talked about with the doctors. It’s a decision that hurts for the players that did not make it to the squad, but they have to see it as a chance for the future.”

Marco Reus “can only walk straight” right now and was therefore left out of the team for medical reasons.
It is very tough news to swallow for the 27-year old who already missed the previous World Cup in 2014 due to injury. “We were very skeptical whether he would be able to play the whole draining tournament. It is a very bitter decision for us and for him. With full fitness, he would have been an enormous enrichment for all of us.”
Previously doubtful captain Bastian Schweinsteiger and Bayern Munich returnee Mats Hummels received better news from the medical office. “The prognoses are clear. According to the doctors, both players will be available to us during the tournament. Schweinsteiger is able to enter full team training this afternoon.”
The only possibility for a change in the squad until the first group match against the Ukraine on 12 June is a further injury to any of the 23 candidates. In that case, the injury would be looked at by an independent UEFA doctor and the DFB would be able to nominate a replacement.
