"Absolutely satisfied"

The post-match comments.
During the week, the Wolves travelled to Grassau am Chiemsee to prepare for the clash with Hamburger SV, with the intention of "sharpening the senses" for the run-in to the end of the season, as Dieter Hecking explained. The measure proved successful against HSV, as the Wolves put an end to a seven game run without a win in the league and displayed a clearly improved performance to recent outings – ultimately earning a deserved victory. No wonder the VfL coach was satisfied with the team performance.

The post-match comments

Bruno Labbadia: "We wanted to win the game at all costs and were in complete control of proceedings in the first half. What we lacked over the entire ninety minutes though was the final punch. We never allowed Wolfsburg into the game in the first period, but just didn’t create enough. In the second half we dropped off and then you could see the individual quality that Wolfsburg possess."

Dieter Hecking: "In the first 25 or 30 minutes, it was clear to see that our stability is not as great as we would like it to be, but that’s quite understandable after seven consecutive games without a win. We initially lost possession of the ball far too easily, but then things went better and we had a number of very promising attacks. I am absolutely satisfied with the second half display. We controlled the game, created a number of chances and deserved our goal. We didn’t want the season to just peter-out, which the team have very much taken to heart."
