Manchester United and Barcelona interested in Saul Niguez

It's widely believed that Atletico Madrid youngster Saul Niguez is one of the best young players in Europe and he confirmed that notion on Wednesday night as he struck a brilliant solo goal to help his side secure a semi-final first-leg lead over German outfit Bayern Munich.

The talented midfielder, who is only 21-years-old, has gone from strength-to-strength in La Liga throughout the course of the campaign and looks set for stardom.

Unsurprisingly, then, the player's future has been the subject of debate recently and it appears that there are a couple of high profile clubs interested in his signature.

Indeed, Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague suggests that the duo of Barcelona and Manchester United could make a move for him.

It won't be easy for United to secure his services, however, as Balague claims that Barca have an agreement to sign him if they match an offer from another club.

United and Barca interest

In a Q&A session for Sky Sports, the Spanish football expert stated: "Saul has a buy-out clause of 45m euros. There is a clause since the David Villa transfer to Barcelona, a clause that says Barcelona can equal any offer and can take him.

"Barcelona are interested, and so are Manchester United. He belongs 40 per cent to Jorge Mendes, and we’ll have to see. The last renewal offer from the club has been rejected by Saul, but the club will continue to negotiate."

Atletico focus

For now, though, the player's immediate focus will be on helping his side maintain their La Liga title challenge and secure their place in the Champions League final.

Currently level on points with Barca at the summit of Spain's elite division, Diego Simeone's side have everything to play for in the pursuit of success.Club Atletico de Madrid v FC Bayern Muenchen - UEFA Champions League Semi Final: First Leg
And after beating Bayern by one goal to nil on Wednesday, Atletico will believe that they can succeed in Europe and eliminate Pep Guardiola's side.

It won't be easy, of course, but there's no reason why Simeone's tactically brilliant side won't produce the goods once again next week.
