Besiktas agree deal to sign Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo on loan

Kenneth Omeruo

Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo is all set to join the Turkish giants Besiktas on loan for next season.

According to reports in Turkey, an agreement has been reached between the two clubs and the confirmation is only a matter of time. The player is apparently in Istanbul right now and will sign a contract with the Turkish club soon.

Earlier this week, there was claims that Chelsea have offered the player to Besiktas on loan.

The 22-year-old defender had a very good season on loan at Kasimpasa last year and has attracted a lot of interest from other Turkish clubs.

Omeruo is yet to make a first team appearance for the Blues and has spent most of his time out on loan at ADO Den Haag and Middlesbrough.

He made 25 league appearances for Kasimpasa last season, who finished 12th in the Turkish top flight.

Besiktas have been looking at centre backs this summer and were linked with a move for the Liverpool centre back Martin Skrtel.

Omeruo is in the penultimate year of his Chelsea contract and is unlikely to get any more chances of proving his worth at Stamford bridge.

Besiktas deny interest in Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli after Mino Raiola transfer claims

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli's hopes of completing a summer switch to Besiktas have been left in tatters after the club denied claims that such a transfer is likely to happen. The controversial 25-year-old, who spent last season on loan at AC Milan, is approaching an uncertain crossroads in his career, with a return to Anfield appearing hugely unlikely and the Rossoneri seemingly uninterested in signing him permanently for a second time.

The likelihood of a potential move to Turkey increased dramatically yesterday (16 June) when agent Mino Raiola gave an interview to Spox.com.tr in which he claimed that he had offered Balotelli to Besiktas and, while still waiting for response, was confident that the deal would be completed given previous assurances from president Fikret Orman that he "would do everything he can to sign him".

However, sporting director Erdal Torunogullari disputes that claim and has reiterated the Super Lig champions' intention to reach an agreement that would see Mario Gomez remain at Vodafone Arena.

The veteran Fiorentina forward, currently away with Germany at Euro 2016 having earned an international recall last November, scored 28 goals in 41 total appearances last season during an extremely productive loan spell in Istanbul.

That impressive haul helped Senol Gunes' side to win their 14th domestic title and a first for seven years ahead of local rivals Fenerbahce. Galatasaray finished a distant sixth.

"We know Raiola well," Torunogullari was quoted as saying by The Mirror. "He's even said Balotelli will go to Besiktas, but it's not like that. We're not interested, our priority is to hold on to Mario Gomez. This month will be decisive, everything depends on him [Gomez]. Only then will we decide what to do."

Gomez replaced Julian Draxler for the final 18 minutes of Germany's insipid 0-0 Group C draw with rivals Poland on Thursday night (16 June), but could start against Northern Ireland in Paris next week amid growing frustrations over manager Joachim Low's persistence on using Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze as a false nine.

Balotelli, who made a sizable impact at Euro 2012 and scored three times as Italy made the final in Kiev, was not selected by Italy boss Antonio Conte for the current European Championship and has not played at all for the Azzurri since the 2014 World Cup. Having already declared that he was not happy at Liverpool and does not wish to go back despite the change in management, his options at present seem rather thin.

The former Inter and Manchester City frontman could become the latest high-profile player to move to the Chinese Super League, with The Guardian recently suggesting that several suitors have expressed an interest in his signature. Other unnamed teams in Turkey are believed to have done likewise.

Transfer News: Chelsea £47m hitman talks, Man Utd and Arsenal blow, double Liverpool exit

Morata and Skrtel at Euro 2016
Morata (left) and Skrtel (right) could be on the move but Turan wants to stay at Barca

Chelsea have reportedly discussed a contract for Alvaro Morata with the Juventus striker's family.

Morata, 23, is thought to be on incoming Blues manager Antonio Conte's shopping list.

The Italy head coach managed Morata when in charge of Juve before quitting the post in 2014 to take up his role with the national side.

Real Madrid have a £23million option to buy Morata back after they sold him to the Turin club in 2013.

It is claimed Real will then look to sell him on to Chelsea for £47m.

And Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claim Chelsea have discussed a contract offer with Morata's family and representatives.

According to the report, Morata wants a £6m-a-season deal to join Chelsea, who have offered to double the £2.3m-a-year wages the currently gets at Juve.

"I'm very happy at Barcelona and I don't want to leave"

Arda Turan

Manchester United and Arsenal target Arda Turn wants to stay at Barcelona, according to reports.
The Sun claim both Premier League clubs are interested in signing the Turkey international.
Turan signed for Barca last summer but was forced to wait six months for his debut due to the Nou Camp club's transfer ban.
He played just 816 minutes in La Liga and there are suggestions he could already be heading for the exit.
Arsenal are seeking midfield recruits ahead of the new season, with Granit Xhaka going some way to covering the departures of Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini.

And United manager Jose Mourinho is expected to conduct more deals before the start of the season, with Villarreal defender Eric Bailly his first arrival.

But Turan is determined to prove his worth at Barca.

"I'm very happy at Barcelona and I don't want to leave," he said in a press conference ahead of Turkey's Euro 2016 clash with Spain today.

"Barcelona was my dream and now I'm living the dream.

"But now I am focussed on Euro 2016 and the national team."

"I don't need to prove something.

"If I couldn't prove something to you by this time, it'll be hard to do it now."

Mario Balotelli at AC Milan
Mario Balotelli looks set to leave Liverpool this summer

Besiktas have hit back at claims Liverpool have offered them striker Mario Balotelli on a permanent deal.

Turkish newspaper Foto Mac yesterday reported that Balotelli's agent Mino Raiola was pushing for a transfer to the Super Lig giants.

"I offered Mario to Besiktas and I’m waiting for their answer," Raiola is quoted as saying.

But Besiktas sporting director Erdal Torunogullari has denied the reports, claiming they want to sign Fiorentina's Mario Gomez instead.

"We know Raiola well," he told Turlish paper Fanatik.

“He’s even said Balotelli will go to Besiktas, but it’s not like that. We’re not interested, our priority is to hold on to Mario Gomez.

“This month will be decisive, everything depends on him [Gomez]. Only then will we decide what to do.”

Another player tipped to leave Liverpool is Martin Skrtel.

The Reds have reportedly accepted a £5.5m bid for the Slovakia defender from Fenerbahce.

But his agent Karol Csonto told Goal there are other offers on the table.

“We are so not far that we can say we will finalise things with Fener," Csonto said.

“There are three clubs who really want him, and we expect Galatasaray and Besiktas to make a good offer too.

"Skrtel will then consider what is the best option for him when he is done at the European Championships.

"He has not committed to Fener and will wait to decide once he has all options.”

Arsenal price tag could scupper Besiktas move for Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina

Besiktas' attempts to agree a summer deal for David Ospina could be scuppered after club president Fikret Orman admitted that his hefty price tag may force them to look elsewhere. The Colombian goalkeeper, who crucially saved a shootout penalty during his country's Copa America Centenario quarter-final victory over Peru in New Jersey on Saturday night (18 June), is expected to leave Arsenal over the coming months in search of more regular first-team football.

After battling with Wojciech Szczesny for the number-one spot during his first campaign in English football following a £3 million ($4.4m) move from French club Nice, Ospina was relegated to a more permanent back-up role following the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea last year.

The 27-year-old went on to make just four starts in the Premier League, all of which came after his rival had been ruled out with a calf problem in March. He appeared a further eight times in the cup competitions but was strongly criticised for a calamitous error that led to the Gunners' shock 3-2 defeat to Olympiacos during the group stages of the Champions League.

Super Lig champions Besiktas, recently linked with a move for Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli, wanted to sign the player during the January transfer window and sporting director Gokhan Keskin reaffirmed their interest during an interview with Turkish radio station Radyospor earlier this month. It is not clear how much Arsenal are currently demanding for Ospina, although the figure is clearly causing some consternation in Istanbul.

"Arsenal want a lot for him, so we may have to look for alternatives," Orman was quoted as saying by The Mirror and Turkish Football.

He later added: "I do want Ospina and we are going to get a foreign keeper."

Arsenal's willingness to part with Ospina could largely depend upon the future of Szczesny, who spent last season on loan with Roma and has been persistently linked with another temporary switch to the Stadio Olimpico. Despite manager Luciano Spalletti's insistence that they still want to sign the Polish international, The Guardian claims that the Giallorossi are struggling to put forward an acceptable offer.

When asked if he would be staying in north London next term, Ospina recently told The Mail: "I don't know, I don't know what's going to happen. Now I want to continue focusing on the Copa America. We will see what's going to happen."

The 2001 winners Colombia return to action at the Copa America on Thursday (23 June) for a semi-final clash against holders Chile in Chicago. Szczesny, meanwhile, will hope to recover from injury in time for Poland's Euro 2016 Group C finale against Ukraine tomorrow. He started the opening victory over Northern Ireland but suffered a thigh problem that ruled him out of the goalless draw with Germany.
